Ed Tech / Distance Learning Journals

December 28, 2008 · Filed Under Journals · 2 Comments

A while ago I setup some collaborative lists on listphile of the various educational technology/distance learning journals that I’ve come across to date. After noticing how sluggish Listphile has become recently and to ensure that these lists aren’t lost at some point if Listphile shuts down, I’ve posted the following archived lists of journals:

These by no means are exhaustive lists but rather are simply collections of the journals that I’ve found to be helpful during my academic career. If anyone has recommendations for additional journals to be added, please leave me a comment with your recommendations.

Shared Lists of Journals with Listphile

After stumbling across Listphile, I’ve gone ahead and given the tool a try for myself and I really like what’ I’ve seen thus far. I took the list of educational technology journals I compiled at an earlier phase of my doctoral program and posted it as a collaborative list. In addition, I’ve incorporated the list of educational research journals at http://edresearch.wikispaces.com/Journals compiled by Douglas Holton into the following lists:

Anyone else using Listphile so far? What has been your experience?

Collection of Research Journals with RSS Feeds

April 18, 2007 · Filed Under Journals, Research · Comment

Douglas Holton has posted a list of research journals with rss feeds at his Educational Research & Development Wiki as well as on his blog. The OPML file can be imported into any rss reader to subscribe to the table of contents alerts for this entire collection and then the unwanted journals can be removed. Or, one can individually subscribe to any of the journals that are listed individually.

Douglas has also setup an experimental Educational Research Journals blog where he’s looking to post educational journals that don’t offer rss feeds (but, by subscribing to the rss feed for this blog, one could in effect then receive the new table of contents alerts via rss).

These certainly are fabulous resources for any graduate student or researcher seeking to stay updated on the most current education and educational technology publication topics and trends. Thanks Douglas for putting this together!

Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication (JCMC)

November 2, 2006 · Filed Under Journals · Comment

This morning I came across a call for proposals for the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication (JCMC). While this journal has been around since 1995 and is dedicated to social science research on computer-mediated communication via the Internet, the World Wide Web, and wireless technologies, this is the first I had come across it. I’m looking forward to searching through its archives as I continue to flesh out my lit review.
